Job description

Are you an experienced Commercial Procurement Manager with a strong background in Quantity Surveying and project-based procurement? We are seeking a skilled, solutions-driven professional to oversee and manage the entire procurement lifecycle for dynamic, cross-border projects.

This is a hands-on role that combines strategic thinking with practical delivery — ideal for someone who thrives in a project-driven environment, enjoys variety, and brings strong commercial acumen to the table.

A Large and International Structure

Thermotraffic is a 100% subsidiary of the Nichirei Corporation. Our objective is to offer a seamless, end-to-end multi-temperature warehousing and logistics chain. In doing so, we provide services to importers, manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers, and distributors. You will therefore be working within a substantial and proven organisation that offers all the resources necessary to do your job to the best of your ability.

What You Will Do

You will be responsible for sourcing goods and services, negotiating contracts, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring compliance with regulations, working closely with project teams across the UK and the Netherlands.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and manage detailed cost estimates, BOQs, and cost plans.

• Monitor project budgets, identify variances, and recommend corrective actions.

• Analyse project documents and support forecasting and cost planning.

• Lead procurement strategies for subcontractors, materials, and equipment.

• Manage the full tendering process: RFQs, evaluation, negotiation, and contract awards.

• Draft and negotiate contracts and supplier agreements (JCT, NEC, FIDIC).

• Oversee supplier pre-qualification, H&S, quality, and ESG compliance.

• Track payments, variations, final accounts, and manage commercial risk.

• Produce CVRs, cost-to-complete analysis, and financial performance reports.

• Liaise with legal teams to resolve claims, disputes, and contractual matters.

• Support and visit UK and NL project sites as required (typically bi-weekly).

You will report to the Construction Project Director.

The Thermotraffic Offer

As the Commercial Procurement Manager at Thermotraffic, you will contribute to an open and friendly working environment where everyone is encouraged to develop themselves both personally and professionally. You will also benefit from:

• Market-based salary

• 25 days of annual leave

• Pension and insurance benefits

• Company Car

• Training opportunities

• An informal working atmosphere within an experienced team

• The flexibility to work from home 50% of the time.

Job requirements

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.

• Professional qualification (MRICS, MCIPS, CIOB) strongly preferred.

• 7+ years’ experience in construction cost management and procurement.

• Excellent contract knowledge (JCT, NEC, FIDIC) and strong commercial acumen.

• Strong negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multiple teams.

• Willingness to travel within the UK and occasionally to the Netherlands.

Why Join Us?

• Hybrid working model with flexibility to work from home up to 50%.

• Exciting cross-border projects with international exposure.

• A supportive and collaborative team environment.

• Opportunity to influence procurement strategy and commercial outcomes.
